The spring and early summer weather was mainly dry with mixed temperatures and little rainfall allowing for a good start to the growing season.
The reconstructed 1st green has settled in well and root development is good. Early season watering of greens was required to maintain a healthy and strong grass plant. Growth around the course has increased lately given the return of wetter conditions and rise in ground temperatures.
We have reduced the height of cut to our semi rough areas to aid play and we are trialling different cutting machines during this process.
Fairway grass coverage continues to improve with the reduction of poorer wood rush and sedge grasses with finer fescue grasses being more dominant. Weed control has removed our emerging daisy problem. We continue to apply calcified lime and treat our fairways with thatch reducing bio products to ever improve these surfaces.
We would remind members not to touch or remove flag pins and repair pitch marks on our greens. Bunker rakes and litter bins will remain out of use for the foreseeable future given the current restrictions. Please take all your litter away with you from the course.
The club are looking forward to our 125th year celebrations in 2021 and we need your help. See poster for details.

Congratulations to all Saturday winners with some exceptional scoring. It reflects the fantastic condition of the course and the hard work of the Green Keeping staff.
Please remember Flags cannot be touched or removed for public health reasons. It also means the cup depth allows the ball to hole-out, a condition of running qualifying competitions.
It was disappointing that 35 players withdrew on the day having taken a tee-time. Tee times are in high demand so please withdraw at least one day before if you don’t plan on playing.
M&H have been asked to consider adding a Term of Competition that anyone withdrawing on the day will forfeit being refunded the entry fee and be considered as a No Show.
