Summary of Actions
The top three items of concern raised in the 2019 Members’ Survey were :
Fairways are too narrow, first cut of semi-rough, semi rough too thick and therefore too penal
Ladies Locker room and toilets / overall clubhouse redecoration.
On item (1) the Green Committee have taken these comments on board and as we approach the start of season you will see a lower level of cut being applied to critical areas of semi-rough eg. LHS and RHS of 11th , LHS and RHS 13th, LHS 1st. In addition the green staff will ensure that fairway cutting and semi-rough definition are in line with the width of fairways recognised as establishing our current standard scratch rating. There were a lot of complimentary comments from members and visitors alike during last season about the level and thickness of the grass on the fairways and as a consequence a vast reduction in the areas of moss and reeds – a bi-product of this welcome improvement is the need to control the level of semi-rough growth.
On course cosmetics ,which was also a topic raised under AOB at the recent AGM , the Green staff and Green sub-committee will continue to focus their efforts in this area eg. cutting of holes, consistency of sand in bunkers, clearing out ditches, sanding of divots, rakes in bunkers, sand and trowels in divot boxes at Par3s.
Progress on these two important areas for our club will be monitored by the General Manager and Green Convener on a weekly basis.
On the third point your committee are confident that the planned clubhouse development work will address these areas of concern.
The club committee continue to encourage members to express opinions and raise questions about the club. Please address any points you may have to Carol and Allan in the club office in the first instance.
