Ladies Section News Report
-On Monday, 17th May, the Ladies' Section hosted an Open Evening to welcome new lady members, taking advantage of a summer membership offer.  Twenty ladies arrived, of whom most were completely new to golf, taking this superb opportunity to find out if the game of golf is for them!  Lady Captain Jane Cowan's presentation of an introduction to the golf club and what it has to offer, followed by a short description of the main aspects of etiquette and basic rules of golf, were well received.  Hopefully, the enthusiastic new members will enjoy their experience on our lovely golf course this summer, while learning a new sport and making new friends at the same time, and go on to join the Ladies' Section as full members next year.

Celebrity Charity Day
-The last Celebrity Charity Day was a huge success, raising over £14,000 for our chosen local charities. The success of the event was mainly due to the many celebrities who attended and the great atmosphere on and off the course.  The auction in the evening was quite an event on it’s own with many of our celebrities donating unique memorabilia to help raise money for our very worthy causes. This year the Celebrity Charity Day will take place on Friday 16 th July. A wealth of celebrities have already pledged to attend, some well known supporters and some new faces.

If you know of a business that may be interested in taking part in this prestigious event contact Bill Hawthorne (billh@shambala.me.uk) for further details.

If you’re a member of the club and are interested in entering a 3-man team please contact past Captain Ian Samuel (ian.samuel@gmail.com) for further details.

18/04/10 - Ladies Invitational Scramble
- Back by popular demand the Ladies’ Invitation Scramble took place on a fine spring afternoon. We had a record number of entries this year - 12 teams in all - and the competition was fierce. The team comprising both our Ladies’ and Gents’ captains and vice captains came in with high expectations only to discover that the winning team ( Malcolm Duncan, Audrey Mackay, Morag Cowe and Barry Hayes) had a 64 to their 69. The most prestigious prize of the day, the wooden spoon, went to the team of Jean Rees, Ann Stephenson, Billy O’Donnell and Iain Campbell who were all great sports. Most players were able to stay and enjoy a very sociable time afterwards in the clubhouse. Thanks to all who helped make the afternoon a success.
